When I think of all of the technology that we have available to us, and use almost every day, it reminds me of how quickly we have evolved as a species. I often times joke about my age , and speak of the old, antiquated devices that I used when I was your age. I had a Sony Walkman that played cassette tapes. Nowadays, you all have iPods or MP3 players of some sort. I had a one-way pager (and felt like I was crazy important), while most of you all now have cellphones - smartphones at that. I used snail mail… You all have email. We had a VCR in my family, and were one of the first families to have one. We used to rent our VHS tapes from Blockbuster Video. I'd bet many of you do not even know what a VHS tape is (much less a Beta Max), as most of you probably have BlueRay players and Netflix. I can remember vividly the day my dad brought home our very first VCR, our very first microwave, and our very first television that didn't have big knobs on it and actually transmitted in color. I can remember when I was excited to use our first remote control, even though it had a wire connecting it to our VCR, and only extended three feet beyond it.
That's it. Enough dating myself. While all of those inventions changed my life in major ways, I want to know what YOU all consider to be the greatest invention of the Digital Revolution. What invention do you feel is the greatest contribution to modern society and why? When was it invented? How has it changed life for Americans? How has it changed your life specifically? How has its technology spawned (or MAY potentially spawn) even newer technologies? Let me know your thoughts.

Well. Where to start? There are thousands, maybe even millions, of inventions to pick from. But, I feel that in my opinion the cell phone, whether it is the Iphone8 or the Motorola. This is because the cell phone made it easier for family to interact over long distances. It made it easy for companies to make deals. And in a more modern sense it made entertainment easily access and cheap. Instead of having to go to an opera or play we could now just whip out our phones and talk with people or play a game. Originally invented on April 3, 1973 this invention not only changed society but is still changing it. As for how it changed my life. Well it made it easy for me to have fun due to my introverted extrovert personality. Without the phone then I would have been stuck in an awkward boredom when around strangers. Instead I can just play a game and not look like I'm bored out of my mind. These older models inspired things like the iphone8 or the Samsung GalaxyJ7 giving us even more connection with the world.

I believe that the greatest invention of the digital age is the digital camera. It was invented by Steven Sasson in 1975. I believe that the camera is the most important because it evolved from being something you held in your hand and was very large, to being implemented on your phone. The handheld camera back then let us capture events in our lives with thought the use of processing it in a dark-room. The digital camera changed our lives because now we are able to capture any moment in our lives. The digital camera led to us having portable cameras to just having cameras on our phones. The digital camera changed American lives giving us a faster and more simpler way to produce images. It changed my life because the camera lets me capture things in the moment.

I think the greatest invention of our time is Bluetooth. Both headphones, speakers, and earphones and i phones use Bluetooth. At this point it is basically essential for doing things like connecting to most speakers. You can even connect to a tiny speaker from your smartphone and blast your dank sound cloud beats, and you can do this with no wires or weird complicated technology. Also, people use it to communicate and talk with one another. You might look like you are a crazy person talking to yourself, but it is still helpful. Wireless headphones are a huge technology advancement and lessen the need for complicated wires. The whole Bluetooth thing gets rid of wires and solve a huge problem. That is why I think that is the greatest invention of our time.

I would venture that the most important contribution of the digital age is the internet-- quite simply and quite obviously put, there has never been an easier, more accessible, more available trove of information in human history. This incredible new technology, having quickly became immensely popular following its inception in the 1990s, has ensured that we, as people, can communicate and learn better from people all around the world. Anything, anything we could possibly want to see or know, is out there; all we need to do is type in a few letters. There have been many other, smaller, contributions made to society during the last several decades, most of which simply build off of this incredible invention. It's such an amazing, liberating freedom to have the world at your fingertips. It's too bad that the repealing of net neutrality will essentially take away this freedom...

The internet is one of the biggest and most important inventions of our time. It has shaped our culture and brought the world together into a tighter community. If you are being bullied or if you feel alone or don't have any friends, you can turn to the internet and find people there that will understand. WIthout the internet today life would be much harder and less convenient. Today, you can send a message instantly to anywhere on the earth. You can go online and buy anything you could think of. The internet also created jobs, thousands, even millions of jobs. You could never leave your house and survive. You could work, get food, and get entertainment from the internet. This technology has allowed the creation of and distribution of many, many more technologies. In fact, i'm using the internet to write this at this very moment. Imagine a world if the internet was gone. We would suddenly be much less connected. Life would be so much more inconvenient, the world would be much worse off. That is why I think that the internet is the most important invention of our time. This is why we need to keep net neutrality, so the internet can continue to be the internet.

Many things have changed in the technology in my lifetime, and most of them have changed the world. The internet is one of the most important. It fuels most inventions today, and made it a lot easier to find and accesses information. Now, instead of having to look something up in a thesaurus, you can easily just google it. All the information in the world is at your fingertips, and that is an extremely powerful tool. I t fueled most other digital inventions as well, such as smartphones, many game systems and more. Think about life without the internet. It would be vastly different. No social media, no online gaming, no soundcloud, none of it. The internet has opened new doors and changed so much about the way we love. You could technically just live at home with the internet. You would never have to leave, you could order your food, work, living supplies, all from the internet. This is why I think it’s the most important invention of the digital age.

The telephone, in my opinion, had one of the greatest impacts in society. Alexander Graham Bell invented the telephone in 1876. It allowed two or more people to communicate with each other if one is too far apart. The telephone has effected everyone in the world. It allowed for easier communication. Instead of having to send a letter and it taking weeks to come back, the telephone let people have live conversation without all the hassle. However, it has evolved into something that became a huge part of our lives; the cellphone. Instead of it being connected to wires, the phone was made into a small, handheld object. It allowed easier access to talking at all times, and eventually companies added extra applications. For example, the camera, games, texting, and the web. Now, in 2017, we have touch screen phones, with even more access to different types of apps of our desire. The cellphone made communication and entertainment much more efficient by putting it to the tip of our fingers. Despite the expenses, many people own one today. The cell phone allowed other things to branch out, like social media. People were able to say their opinion, create new friendships, and even build new organizations through the media.

I think that the GPS is one of the greatest inventions of the digital age. Now when driving alone, people don't have to rely on trying to figure out a map. If you are driving and you are faced with the task of looking at a map it can be very dangerous. Some will say that you could just pull over, but if you are in a situation where you have to drive but don't know which turn to take, you need to know quickly. The GPS is a great way of getting to somewhere you have never been before easily. You can connect your phone to your car, and when you need to turn or do any of that sort, a voice will play out of your speakers and tell you what you need to do now and what you need to do next.

I feel that the best invention of the digital age is the ability to listen to music digitally. This includes iPods, MP3 players. digital downloads, Soundcloud, Spotify, Apple Music, Tidal, and other musical release platforms. Music always makes people happy, especially me, and the ability to listen to it digitally is amazing. Digital music has changed the lives of many creators, as it is easier to blow up digitally than it is to blow up on the radio. Platforms like Spotify, Soundcloud, Tidal, and Apple Music allowed many people to listen to music for free. This might cause some companies to lose money, but the bigger companies can afford it due to premium or subscription users. In 2006, Daniel Ek created Spotify. Soundcloud was founded by Fross, a musical artist, and Alexander Ljung. Soundcloud is the home for tons of underground talents that are waitng to be discovered. In closing, digital music has shaped the landscape for our celebrities, our taste in music, our overall mood, and musical economy.

To me, the greatest digital invention is the smartphone. The smartphone even during infancy was a marvel compared to the telephone, and now it´s revolutionizing the world. Smartphones like the Samsung Galaxy can do so much is incredible. We have smartphones than can detect if your eyes are on the screen and pause a game or video your watching if so, and then lay when your eyes are back on it. The cameras on smartphones like the iphone and Galaxy S are of very high quality and comparable to modern digital cameras of the highest quality. Smartphone are also efficient forms of communication, and they are easier to use for all call then an industrial telephone. But as the biggest impact, human beings can get their hands and eyes of smartphones. Our society is addicted to this form of technology and sometimes prefer texting someone instead of talking face to face, even if they are an inch away. We utilize these phones in many ways and we are becoming addicted and trapped in this business. Corporations are making billion and eventually trillions of this invention, and it's not going to stop, Not only is this invention impactful and great, but producing tons of money and keeping people very, very, busy. Not to mention the impact social media has, makes people use their phones even more. Itś all connected. The internet, smartphones, social media, they all connect and become one giant powerhouse controlling our society. To me, the smartphone is much more impactful than other modern inventions, and that's what makes it the GOAT.

I know this may sound odd, but something big in the Digital revolution was the first major virus, in 1988. It caused people to create newer viruses, causing more people to make improved systems to block out those viruses. Of course, nothing can be truly perfect, and there are still a lot of viruses affecting devices all over. But as I said before, it is making companies have to make better and better devices, to help their consumers. In a way, the viruses help digital revolution. This has helped me become more aware about the dangers out there, and be cautious about the things out there.

I think that that is a really interesting thought, Shawn, and I totally agree with you. It seems that the digital "bloodline" and animals may be closer related than we think. Sometimes it is important to take a step backwards to go forward, and, although harmful on a personal level, losses like what happens with a computer virus can inspire a spark of ingenuity that may just take us even farther than just a cure.

Helped by the internet, the first form of social media emerged in 1973. Today social media is everywhere. It is hard to find an aspect of life that social media has not shaped. It has greatly aided the means to advertise, and thus has generated billions of dollars for companies. However, that's only the start. Now, when we do something, we are able to share it to the world. This allure has greatly shaped modern-day culture. Social media has allowed us to connect, expand, and more. We can meet people we may never meet physically. We can know of things that happen on the other side of the world. It is indisputable that social media has not affected our news, our politics, our economy, our society. This is why I believe that it is the most important invention of the digital era.

One invention that changed society greatly was the telephone. The phone was created by Alexander Graham Bell. He began working on this invention in 1865 but was not ready to test it until March 1876. Bell tested his invention with his assistant on March 10th, 1876, and it was successful. The invention of the telephone, has helped society by allowing people to communicate. People are allowed to talk to each other without being face to face. This is very useful to society because it allows you to talk to someone in case of an emergency without the necessity to talk face to face. Over time, these phones have evolved. Back then, it used to be connected by a wire and now it can be handheld. There isn’t that much of a struggle anymore. Now we have iphones, samsung, and other types of cellular devices. For me personally, the invention of phones has helped me a lot. Especially since they have evolved and become able to be carried by hand. The cellular devices have allowed me to communicate with my family that is far away and also close family. It has changed my life and the life of every other person. Phones are still likely to keep evolving since they are so famous because of how it allows people to communicate with one another whether near or far.

In my opinion, the greatest invention of the Digital Revolution was the invention of mobile computers, or laptops. This may not seem especially logical, since mobile computers are only a small step above a desktop, but we are not asking about the biggest invention, but the most useful. If you were to ask the largest invention, I would say the internet, but I digress.

I think the computer (and laptop) is up there on one of the greatest inventions of our time. This is because without the computer, many of us probably wouldn't even be writing this. Some of us won't be able to check our google classroom because they don't have phones or ipads or ipods, making it so that they can't do any of their work. No google slides, docs, or drive so they can participate in class. Usually, workers nowadays use computers to do their work and without it that job might not be a thing. Youtubers, can't upload their videos if they take it on a camera not on their phone. There are many more reasons but these are the ones that come straight to my head.

We as a species have evolved a lot. Our technology is becoming more complex, and modernized. There have been many accommodating inventions in our time period. I believe the invention of the computer to be the best one. I believe this because, I think that without the invention of the computer we wouldn't have some of the other inventions, such as the Amazon Echo we have now. Computers are needed to create programs for other inventions and to get them to work. The first very computer was created by J. Presper Eckert in the year 1943. This computer was was called the ENIAC. The man who invented computers for home use was Steve Wozniak. He worked along with genius Steve Jobs to create the popular Apple computers and industry, and other inventions by Apple. Now a days computers are key or essential to our, and many other kids educations. We use the internet to access homework and to learn. Computers build on everybody's knowledge, just type in a question, and there is the answer. As much as computers have been key to my education, they have also been key to my entertainment. For example on a computer I like to play games, shop, and watch shows that I wouldn't normally be able to watch on a regular TV.

I think one invention that greatly impacted the lives of American citizens was the television. The first electronic television was invented in 1927. It was invented by a 21 year old man named Philo Taylor Farnsworth. Personally, I think that the television helped not only regular citizens but also brands and companies. Television, or t.v, allowed for business people to communicate to potential consumers about solutions to some of their problems. This could have caused their brand to transform into something great. Television also changed regular American citizens because it helped them further educate themselves on issues occurring around them. News broadcasts helped inform all kinds of people on matters that were both positive and negative. This includes the creation of organizations to a sprout in different sicknesses. T.V shows and movies introduced characters who I, and others, could related to. For example, characters I could relate to were people like Gabriella Montez from High School Musical because she’s a little shy when you first meet her. She also enjoyed a lot of the things I liked. Dance Moms was another show that changed my life a little. It was entertaining, but also made me interested in dancing at a young age. My last reason for Television changing the lives of Americans is it bonds people together. People become so passionate over the characters in a show or enjoy the way something was created so much. Many people become friends due to their bond for a show. They also relish the memories that talking about the show brings. Overall, I think the television has largely impacted the lives of American citizens.

I think the greatest invention of this day and age is the smartphone. The smartphone is a versatile and helpful tool in lives today. The first smartphone debuted in 1992. Smartphones can do many things that phones never did before. With a regular flip-phone, you could just call and text people, and possibly play a few games. Nowadays, a smartphone can not only do that, but work as an alarm clock or house many different apps that can be useful or entertaining. Smartphones have allowed a variety of people to connect and share their experiences. People can find support using their phone because they could talk to people they wouldn’t usually talk to. Almost everything you need or want is on one device. The smartphone has changed my life by making it easier. I don’t have to pick up a dictionary or use a separate music player. If I need to take pictures, I’ll just use my smartphone. I also use it to connect with other people or entertain myself. As for the impact in lives of Americans in general, I think that it has provided a life of ease. Things are more convenient for them. There are, however, possibly negative effects on people because of smartphones. People have become glued to their phones and less physical and face to face contact takes place. Such meetings are important to have. I think that people should generally have actual acquaintances in real life so that they don’t become secluded. However, if people survive without human contact and are doing fine, then it’s alright. I think the direction the smartphone is going in is that it will be become more efficient and advanced. They may become smaller, thinner, but hold huge amounts of storage. It might completely take over the world more than it has now. People’s lives may revolve around it.

I think that the internet is the most useful and important invention of the digital age. It was the network of networks, the creation that brought it all together. The internet was the thong that combined all of the other inventions, the computer, the smartphone, the World Wide Web, all of them, and placed them on the same platform, made them all compatible with each other. It unified them, giving the digital age a certain togetherness that was lacking in many others. The internet made the mass sharing of information possible, so that almost anyone could access information before reserved for the wealthy scholars. It was as if the library of knowledge was suddenly opened to all, and allowed to expand beyond imagination. There would be virtually no end to what could be accomplished with the internet. With it, instant messaging is possible, and so are email, online studying, online shopping, online reading and writing, and general access to more than 1 exabyte of data. That's over 1,000,000,000,000,000,000 bytes, and only from Google.

When we go back to the year 1876 the phone clearly wasn’t as advanced and improved as it is now. The first telephone was large and bulky, along with the fact that it would only allow people to speak to each other within a specific distance(s). Over time, the phone has developed into the phone it is today. It’s become lighter, has more capabilities, and is a lot easier to use. Overall the phone made a great impact on the world. Back then the electrictronic tv, which came out in 1927, wasn't that advanced and couldn't do the things that today's tv's do like watch netflix or maybe even just having color. This was one of the greatest inventions because it was very important once it was out to the world and it still is important now but it is really crazy how advanced and huge phones are until this day. Even kids would have a phone and toddlers like my nephew has a tablet on his way to a phone probably. i just can't believe how huge it is. It is obviously now easier to get but people really want the new iPhone so they would stand in line for one. It is just a device that could be in your pocket. It advanced from being stuck on a wall or a wire. Now you could call by asking Siri instead of having to remember numbers and dialing then waiting .

I think the most important thing invented is the Phone. Without a phone i think it will be hard to get to places around. The fist digital phone was created in the year 1988. It is nice that throughout the years the phones are getting better and better but I think that maybe people are trying to do too much to make the best phone. Maybe all the social media around will do something bad but it is way easier to get to know people around you and to contact others. Maybe everything is getting out of hands but I think that everyone should have a phone. Not everyone but like responsible people. But the phones have been getting smaller and more advanced. Back in the days phones would be heavy weighted but now phones are getting smaller. With less buttons and more screen and light. Which is bad for the eyes. But other than those things I think that the phone was a very good invention.
