Digital Revolution

When I think of all of the technology that we have available to us, and use almost every day, it reminds me of how quickly we have evolved as a species.  I often times joke about my age, and speak of the old, antiquated devices that I used when I was your age.  I had a Sony Walkman that played cassette tapes.  Nowadays, you all have MP3 players of some sort built into your phones.  I had a one-way pager (and felt like I was crazy important), while most of you all now have cellphones - smartphones at that.  I used snail mail… You all have email.  We had a VCR in my family, and were one of the first families to have one.  We used to rent our VHS tapes from Blockbuster Video.  I'd bet many of you do not even know what a VHS tape is (much less a Beta Max), as most of you probably have BlueRay players, Netflix, Hulu, Amazon Prime, Disney+ or some other video streaming platform.  I can remember vividly the day my dad brought home our very first VCR,  our very first microwave, and our very first television that didn't have big knobs on it and actually transmitted in color.  I can remember when I was excited to use our first remote control, even though it had a wire connecting it to our VCR, and only extended three feet beyond it.

While all of those inventions changed my life in major ways, I want to know what YOU all consider to be the greatest invention of the Digital Revolution.  What invention do you feel is the greatest contribution to modern society and why?  When was it invented?  How has it changed life for Americans?  How has it changed your life specifically?  How has its technology spawned (or MAY potentially spawn) even newer technologies?  Let me know your thoughts.

The smartphone was invented in 1992 by IBM, the term smartphone was coined in 1995 however. The first iphone was invented in 2007 by Apple. Since then, many more have come out, up to the iphone 11 most recently. Although there have been problems coming with them, I think smartphones have enhanced the lives of people the most in the digital revolution. They have been developed very much over the past decade or so, but now they are fine shortcuts of finding information and entertainment. Along with this, phones have been used for communication like texting, facetime and phone calls. Since 2007, smartphones have been developed by the likes of Apple, Samsung and Google, into very helpful machines. Beginning as compact conductors of apps and various search engines and turning into sleek devices able to perform all the original uses with many more additions like voice searching, face ID, and others. While there have been problems with some of these, they have been meticulously edited for the better. Yes, phones have caused such problems as sleep deprivation and depression, and need to be fixed up a lot more. However, they are also an extremely helpful device to have and will only get better because this is only the beginning.

I agree that smartphones are the most important invention and that they do benefit us in many ways. For example, they make it easier for us to communicate by having apps like IMessage, Phone, and FaceTime. Smartphones can be detrimental but they can also help us with our health too. Some people download apps on their smartphones that can tel them when to take their medication and apps to manage prescriptions. They can also be used to check for new updates or check news headlines so they can keep up with what’s happening in the world! They are pocket sized PC’s and they help us with our everyday life.

In my humble and honest opinion, I think that the greatest invention of the Digital Revolution is the internet. I think it is this, as it allows us to access information at will. We can look up anything, and most times, millions of results will appear in less than a second. It makes it so that we can work from home and create documents and files by typing instead of writing. This means that our work is never lost and we can always find it. The internet was invented in 1983 and it has since changed millions of lives. It has allowed them to do all of the aforementioned things and it allows me to do that stuff as well. I currently use it as a dictionary. It has created several websites, including YouTube, google, safari, and so forth, with many more on the way.

In my opinion, the macbook is one of the most important inventions in the modern era. In 2006, Apple released the first macbook for $999. It was the most popular computer on the market. In 2008, it was the single best selling model, beating out all of its competitors. It was a lightweight, fast, and portable device that was great for work. There were portable computers before the macbook, but they were extremely expensive and hard to carry around. When the macbook was released, it offered a lightweight, portable device that was inexpensive. This computer changed the way people did their work. Now students could type school work on computers and share it with their teachers and classmates. This computer lead the way for many other incredible inventions produced by Apple.

I absolutely agree, Mia. The Macbook's invention is quite significant since it did help create this line of products in which many users and buyers consume. However, I'd say computers in general are much more significant since they were what helped set the foundation for companies like Apple, Samsung, Android, Microsoft, and so many others to produce these products. Other than that, the Macbook was definitely significant in terms of the evolution of the laptop.

I believe that the smartphone was a very significant invention. They were invented in 1992, but people didn’t start using the term smartphone until 1955, and it made its first debut in 1992. This smartphone was called the Simon Personal Communicator by IBM, 15 years before the first Iphone was released. You could use the Simon to send emails, and receive them, faxes and pages. There were built-in features as well. There was an app where you could take notes on, and make appointments. The first Iphone was released on June 29, 2007. Smart Phones have evolved a lot. There have been a lot of updates like face ID, and being able to put your fingerprint on someone’s home button. We use phones for a lot of things like texting, calling, and facetiming. Yes, smartphones do have their pro’s and con’s just like any other device, and can affect our health, like increasing anxiety and mental stress on teens, but they are still amazing devices and help us in many ways.

I totally agree with you Jaelynn. I think that smartphones are important to Digital History because they are like mini computers, but are also are phones at the same time. You can look things up on the Internet, send and receive emails, and text people. You can also listen to music and take pictures and videos. The smartphone has become a necessary part of people's lives and Digital History.

There were many websites that claimed that the internet was invented by many different people, but two things were consistent in each article: one, It was invented in 1983 and two, it had a significant impact on each aspect of our everyday digital lives. The internet has provided us with the ability to search for things and receive thousands of websites in a matter of seconds. From having the internet, millions of people from around the world have been able to learn new things from the internet from learning a cookie recipe, to learning how to play the piano, to even learning the procedure when swimming for sharks. From the internet we can also connect with people much easier. Emailing is a great example of this, instead of mailing letters, which could take days for someone to receive, in emails people from around the world are able to communicate and receive messages in a matter of minutes. The internet is also used as a source of entertainment. Online streaming websites such as YouTube, Netflix, and Y8 Games, provide a lot of entertainment for adults, teens, kids, and even toddlers around the world. The internet has entertained me and helped me countless times in school and at home. Because of the internet, many online websites that are very beneficial when it comes to human health. The internet, in my opinion, was the best digital invention for the human race.

One of the most revolutionary inventions in the modern era is the internet. We can search up any piece of information and millions of results will come up in a matter of seconds. Ever since 1990, when the internet really took off, it has been rapidly improving and expanding. In 1995, the internet had about 16 millions users. As of June last year, it had about 4,536 million users, which is approximately 58.8% of the world’s population.
The internet is now a staple in the world, what with more than half of the world using it and it is now a necessity in communication, business, and even the government. One of the most significant aspects of the internet that has affected all of these things is it’s very capable communication possibilities. It is even showing with the decline in the use of letters. In 2004, when the internet was still in its earlier stages, the United States Postal Service collected about 206 billion units of mail. In 2019, the number had been reduced to about 142.5 billion units. While this number is still very large, there is still a big decrease and is definitely partially due to technological advancements and the internet.
Many businesses have also grown a lot on the internet and have gotten a big boost just by having a website. In fact, there are many businesses that only exist online and still do very well. A lot of this is due to the ease of having a business online and being able to control it effortlessly from their computer, phone, or even their watches now. Also, the quick communication abilities allow for businesses to contact and talk to their clients quickly and talk with their co-workers to work on their website thousands of miles away from each other.
With the internet having well over a billion websites, it is nowhere near disappearing and is still growing as it starts to take over the world and eliminate all work done by hand. With people using the internet to do the most amazing things and even invent the next big-ticket item that is the newest advancement in the technological industry. With what people are doing today and it's endless possibilties, we have no idea of what the internet will bring us next.

I think that the internet is the greatest contribution to modern science. I think this because it is very helpful and you can find just about anything on it. It was invented in 1983. The internet has changed life for Americans by making things easier. One example is looking up information. Instead of going to get books, you can just go on google and look it up. Another way the internet changes life is that you can learn to do things by yourself and save money. For example, if there is something wrong with your car. Rather than spend a lot of money for someone to fix it, you can learn to do it and not have to pay a service fee for someone else to do it. The internet has helped when I am doing school work, when I am looking for things to do when I am bored, and more. The internet makes my life easier.

In my opinion, the personal computer ( PC ) is the greatest invention of the Digital Revolution. The computer gave way to other inventions such as the internet which in turn gave us the World Wide Web which helped create different platforms, services, and social networks. The very first personal computers were invented in the early 1970s and were generally called microcomputers. Instead of the smooth and slick laptops, we’re used to seeing advertised, they were sold in bulky kits where the computer had to be assembled. They were aimed towards hobbyists and technicians but nowadays, personal computers are advertised to innovators and creators as a tool to unleash their creativity and imagination.
The personal computer is used by many today and not only Americans. People all over the world use personal computers for daily work, creating content, communicating with others, consuming media, and gaming. Many people own personal computers, whether it’s a smartphone, laptop, or desktop, they’re all personal computers. I’ll bet that you know a person who uses one of the three devices for the five things I’ve listed. Growing up, my parents always had some sort of personal computer in the house. My brother, I remember, would always go onto the box computer after school and play hours on end on a game called Runescape. Then, we finally got a regular desktop computer and I would use it all the time to watch YouTube. When I grew older, I got my own pc and I’d say I spend the majority of my time on it either for schoolwork, gaming, consuming media, listening to music, communication, or drawing. It’s become a necessity in my life because of schoolwork and back and forth communication between faraway friends and family. It is a marvelous piece of technology and I do think it is significant from the Digital Revolution.

Invented in 1983, the invention that I feel is the greatest contribution to modern society is the internet. I think this because people use it on a daily basis. Of the 7.5 billion people on earth, about 4.48 million use the internet. That’s about 60% of the population. Additionally, that number is increasing, and has been since the creation of the internet. This widely used invention, has changed the lives of Americans and others around the world by allowing them to connect with people and gather information in just seconds without having to leave their couch. You can learn about virtually any topic in the world such as languages, recipes, medical treatments, fixing appliances, special skills, and knowledge. You can explore media, books, images, documents, and videos. You can shop anywhere online without having to touch money. You can even start a business or get a degree. It gives us the ability to email, instant message, social network, and video conference. The internet possesses 1.2 million terabytes of information and over 1.7 billion websites.
Personally, the internet has impacted my life by giving me all of the world’s information at my fingertips and the ability to contact anyone at anytime. It helps me for school assignments and keeping in touch with friends. Further than that, the internet has spawned search engines such as Google, Bing, Ecosia, Internet Explorer, Yahoo, and Safari. With the internet ever expanding and getting better and better with time, there is no telling what it will bring us as the future presents itself, but it has, and will continue to change the world.

They called it the Simon Personal Communicator or the SPC. Many of its elements became staples for current day smartphones. In my opinion, the greatest invention of the Digital Revolution was invented in 1994 by Dr. Jaap Haartson. Bluetooth. This invention helps society in many ways. It helps keep people safe, helps businesses and companies be more productive, is energy efficient, and makes life a whole lot easier. In 1999, bluetooth was being installed into cars. In 2004, Chrysler was the only company with bluetooth. Now, 86% of car have it. The main reason for this is to ensure more safety when people are driving. Hands free driving allows people to talk on the phone without taking their attention off the road. In a way, bluetooth has also improved education nation wide. Teachers will often use it to wirelessly stream audio for the entire class. Teachers also use bluetooth to enhance student participation. Bluetooth has also made people’s everyday lives better. There are now apps and different programs that allow people to open and close doors just from the tap of their fingers from long distances. People’s everyday lives also include children. Fortunately, bluetooth has something for them too. Parents/Guardians also have the ability to track where their kids are going and where they are if they got lost. I personally use bluetooth for entertainment. I will listen to music by connecting my wireless headphones to my phone. I think this is a better way to listen to music because then you don’t have a cord getting tangled up. Overall, I think bluetooth was the greatest invention of the Digital Revolution.

Even though I don’t fully agree with you Ava, I still think Bluetooth was a great step forward in terms of the development in digital inventions. I like how in your examples of how Bluetooth is used, you included ways that were older, newer, and very common, such as teachers using Bluetooth to wirelessly stream audios. I could relate to many of the examples given to provide ways that Bluetooth is also helpful, since I also use Bluetooth to listen to music as well. You thought outside of the box in your idea of what was the greatest invention of the Digital Revolution, and I think this invention is underrated as well.

The Camera

Cameras have earned a reputation as one of the greatest contributions to modern society. A camera captures still photographs or video, either on film or digitally. The importance of the camera isn’t in the device itself, but in what it produces. Photographs and videos have become significant to communication, education, and preservation of history. In my 13 years of life, I have forgotten many important times and events in my life. Thankfully, photographs were captured and I was able to hold my own to those memories and not have to depend on my goldfish like memory. Every time I reach a new chapter in my life there is at least one photograph to represent and it refreshes and gives me the emotions of that time or event. Without cameras, many important moments of my life may have been forgotten.
In 1829, Louis Daguerre received credit for developing practical photography. This technology was sold to the French government. In 1840, it was Alexander Wolcott who invented the first camera that made photographs that did not fade quickly. He is the one fully successful inventor of the camera.
Now, according to Samsung, 2.5 billion people around the globe have a digital camera. Before the era where cameras were attached to cell phones, it cost lots of money to even get your hands on a camera. It was something only high-class people had the privilege of having. Nowadays, you walk into a restaurant and you are welcomed by the sight of many people taking flicks of their meals. When you walk into sports arenas or concerts the same will be happening. People are also better photographers now because they aren’t worried about how much storage they have or how many frames they can capture. Cameras are also open to many now and are easier to get your hands on.
Personally, the invention of the camera has made a great impact on my life. My family and I have the privilege of going to different countries and places for vacation and to capture these memories, the camera is very necessary. Also, when you are accompanied by a huge family that is hard to keep track of, pictures come in handy. Without pictures, I may have lost track of so many cousins and aunts and uncles.
The technology of the camera has spawned many newer technologies. For example, in every smartphone, you can take very clear pictures and have them tracked back to your storage if needed. Waterproof cameras have also been created to take photographs of the beautiful world beneath the water. The camera is going to create so many new ideas and inventions, I can’t wait to see what they are.

I also liked and agreed with how you said that the biggest thing isn't the device it's self, but what it produces. Lastly I love how you going to detail about the various uses, and reasons why the camera is so valid in this topic. Overall I agree with what you have said a great job.

I agree that cameras are one of the greatest contributions to modern society; they allow for so much. Thanks to the camera, people all over the world are able to capture amazing images and record videos that they can then share with the rest of the world via the internet. It allows for people to get to see all that the world has to offer simply by looking online. Without the means of capturing photos and recording videos, this would not be the case. I also agree that the camera allows for the preservation of history and memories.

Computers
I think that computers are one of the most useful and reliable inventions. Nowadays and even before when computers first started coming up they were incredible, they had search engines which they can find out realistically anything. It's even better now people there giant companies such as Apple, Samsung, Microsoft, and many more. So the thing that all these companies have in coming is that they all have unique software systems, for example, Apple. They have an automated system named Siri which pretty much allows you to ask it a question and it to give a response and thorough answer. That's what you can do with computers now there is an infinite amount of ideas and possibilities with having a computer. The first computer was made in 1943 by J. Presper Eckert and John Mauchly. This was a giant computer its overall processing power was probably around the same level as my iPhone. People especially used computers during the first moon landing. During the first moon landing they used giant computers to calculate the trajectory of the rocket and its landing. This is some of the many reasons why I believe computers made an impact in the world

In my opinion, the chromebook is the most important invention of the digital age. It was invented in 2011 by Google. The first chromebook was sold by Acer Inc. and Samsung. The pros about chromebooks are that they are lightweight and affordable. They are easy to carry around, and due their price, schools are able to purchase chromebooks for all students. They are easy for teachers and students to use at school. In 2014 Google Classroom was introduced as an app to help teachers in the classroom. This app allowed classrooms to become paperless and also increased chromebook sales. In 2015, two million chromebooks were sold in the United States, and 6.4 million were sold worldwide. This exceeded the number of Macbooks sold that year. In 2018, an estimated 8.9 million chrome books were shipped throughout the entire world. They were a success because students and teachers could easily use them and were easy to manage. It has changed my life because I use it to complete all of my homework and classwork. Also, I watch videos and listen to music on it. It is easy to use, and I can take it anywhere. They are now talking about releasing a chromebook tablet which may make completing schoolwork even easier.

I believe the computer is the greatest invention in the Digital Revolution because they assisted us in many different ways over the years. For example, they help us with storing important information, connects you to the internet, and it can increase your abilities. The first computer was made in 1943 it was completed until 1946. Computers are very important right now because we depend a lot on them. We use them to type essays, study, start businesses, buy things online, and can help you stay organized. We can do a lot of things with the computer especially if your connected to the Internet. Now we have big companies like Apple, Samsung, Dell, and Microsoft that keep on making new versions of the computer to make people buy them. They do this because when they say that there is more storage, is faster, and basically want you to invest more. All in all, I believe the computer was the greatest of the Digital Revolution.

Want to call a friend? Ordering pizza? Making a business call? Surely, you’d reach for a phone to have a long-distance chat. Telephones have become integrated into our everyday lives and we pretty much rely on them for long-distance communication. We take them for granted because, before the 1870’s, the way to communicate was through a telegraph that was slow and only operated in Morse code. When Alexander Graham Bell invented the telephone, business and communication were changed forever. In my opinion, phones are the greatest invention of the digital revolution.

I am lucky to exist in a time period where phones and computers have advanced greatly. I can’t imagine how difficult sending expensive messages letter by letter with Morse code every time you wanted to communicate with someone. The telephone greatly increased efficiency in business and allowed people to actually send voice messages! I can’t imagine what my life would be like without being able to text and call my friends and family. I would barely be able to talk to my best friends, I wouldn’t be able to call my parents in an emergency, and my social life would probably be more sad than it already is. The telephone has led to many other technological advances, even if indirect. Great minds exist all over the world, and the telephone allows these people to share ideas and plan together despite thousands of miles between them. The telephone also led to the smartphone and cell phone, something nearly everyone has today.

Overall, the telephone has become something much greater than when it was originally made and it has shaped my life and many others across the world. As of now, it’s simple, fast, and extremely helpful. It’s hard to imagine modern life without them. If fast communication is important to you, you can probably agree that this invention is the most remarkable invention in this storm of digital advances.

I believe the internet is the greatest development of the Digital Revolution. Invented in 1983, the internet has become a part of modern day life. The internet offers vast amounts of information that can easily be obtained by anyone. As of 2019, about 4.5 billion people were recorded as active internet users - more than half of the world's population. The internet is so commonly used for good reason. With the internet at our fingertips, not only can we obtain virtually any piece of knowledge we seek, but we can communicate with others all around the world. Gone are the days where telegrams or letters were the main source of communication with others from far distances. Instead of letters, we have emails and instant messaging which send, well, instantly. We are able to meet new people on the internet and discover old friends. With the internet at our use, previous tasks that once took hours to complete can be done in a matter of minutes. Things like shopping and paying bills can now be done much easier with little effort thanks to the internet. The internet makes our lives better and hassle free. The internet offers so much more. It can help to find jobs, run businesses, get directions, find entertainment; the list of possibilities is endless. The internet was a truly life changing invention for mankind and it continues to grow and offer much, much more.

I believe the greatest contribution to modern society are computers. This is because people tend to depend on computers for many different things. Students use them at school, adults use them at work, we use them to get answers to questions we do not know, and for our own entertainment. At school, most of the work we do is on our Chromebooks. We write essays, study, and find academic help if we need it. We would not be able to finish a lesson without our Chromebooks. All our work is assigned through our Chromebooks and we do it all on their too. Not to mention, most teachers have their whole lesson plans for the year on their laptops. Computers changed the whole routine and way of living for Americans. Instead of looking through a dictionary, you could get the answer you're looking for within seconds on a computer. Also, just like a phone, you can communicate with a person much faster by sending emails. People now only have to whip out their devices to look something up or send a letter.
Early computers were formed as calculative devices. Early within the technological revolution, some mechanical devices were built to do long tedious tasks. The primary digital electronic calculative machines were developed throughout World War II. The primary semiconductor transistors in the late Forties were followed by the silicon-based MOSFET (MOS transistor) in the late 1950s, resulting in the silicon chip and also the personal computer revolution within the Nineteen Seventies. The speed, power, and flexibility of computers have been and are increasing ever since then. With MOS semiconductor counts increasing at a speedy pace, this resulted in the Digital Revolution throughout the late twentieth to early twenty-first centuries.

Created by the infamous Thomas Edison and his British assistant William Dickinson in 1892, motion pictures have been a way to tell many stories and tales of the people in the forefront of society to ones who are simply forgotten. Movies have preserved the way we view history and the things around us. In the early 1890’s, Edison was working on creating motion pictures after seeing a lecture by Eadweard Muybridge who used his zoopraxiscope to stimulate the motion of animals. Edison decided to make a design that would and I quote “ be an instrument that is mesmerizing to the eye like the phonograph is for the ear”. The first development process was a series of pictures on a cylinder that would be viewed through a microscope. Edison and William Dickinson worked together in this design as Edison provided the vision for the invention and Dickinson showcased the knowledge. Their creation was a huge success as its still relevant in present times. Motion Pictures and Cinema have changed my life for the better. As a little girl, I always wanted to be an actress in a movie as I would get to portray a character that is so different from me. That feeling of freedom and pure innocent that I get when I see a movie is amazing as I imagine myself portraying that character and getting an Oscar or an Emmy for it. Movies are in escape for a lot of people. During the Great Depression which was a difficult and turbulent time in American History, many people would go and see movies to sense a moment of hope and happiness in this film fantasy when in reality the world was depressed with emptiness. I believe this might be one of the best inventions in modern history as it makes the audience feel like the world is still left with some desire of different types of emotions like joy, anger, sadness, and love.

I think the computer is one of the most important inventions in our history. You could do so much on a computer, including communicating with those far away and getting information from the internet in a very easy manner. Computers have had a major influence on the world. They have developed greatly, and now most people in the world own computers. According to “howstuffworks.com”, the first computer was conceived and designed by mathematician Charles Babbage between 1833 and 1871. This was a big jump for technology in the world. As computers developed over the years, people found more ways they could benefit humans. Computers are able to complete hard tasks quickly and with ease. Now in the modern world, I use computers for many things including information sharing and organizing, keeping pictures to remember the past, helping us find research and opinions, and keeping us updated with important news going around the world. I think the most interesting thing that computers have done is to preserve our health. Computers are used in hospitals and pharmacies to help people stay healthy. Ironically, that is not the case when people are in front of a computer all day long. That kind of inactivity can be bad for your health. In addition, people can get into trouble by connecting online with strangers who can harm them. Like with everything, overuse can turn something genius into something potentially dangerous.

I think the car is one of the most important inventions in our history. 1886 was called the birth year of the car when German Karl Benz patented his Benz Patent-Motorwagen. It was not until 1908 that it became accessible to the masses. The car made life easier for everyone. With the car, there was no need to travel around in a carriage pulled by horses the carriage company soon realized that they did not stand a chance. The first car was sold for about $825, or about $18,000 in today's dollars. Another reason I think the car is the most important inventions is because of the fact that it is still improving and becoming easier to use, there are some cars where you can start your car when you’re 20ft from it, the comfort of the ca has also improved there is a radio, air conditioner, you can recline your seat to sleep, and you in some cars you can even watch a movie in the backseat of the car(most of that stuff doesn’t apply to the people in the front seat).

I agree with you a lot Matthew. We use cars a lot now that why it’s easier to get around. Also, when there’s new cars that come out every year people are eager to get them. I liked that you talked about how much they can do and how much they evolved over the years.

I think technology is very important to me because without technology, we’d be nowhere. We have advanced a lot because of technology. Especially smartphones. They were the start of a new revolution. Smartphones had a powerful impact on children. Children stare at screens all day and that’s what they are stuck on. Screens. All kids want to do is look at screens. This is important because technology is not being used for only information.

I believe the most significant of the modern era is the computer. Computers started the evolution of everything, like smartphones. Smartphones are basically compact computers. This is also used on the daily whether in school or home, you work with the computer a lot. The computer offers access to many things, too, like the internet. You can play games, do work, watch videos, etc. The possibilities are quite endless. Alan Turing was known as the father of the modern computer. He created algorithms and computations to support the making of the modern computer. There were of course many more people who contributed to making the computer we have today. There are also many variants of computers, laptops, PCs, etc.

I feel like the greatest invention to modern society is the internet because it gives us access to an unlimited amount of information. The ARPANET adopted TCP/IP on January 1, 1983, and from there researchers began to assemble the “network of networks” that became the modern Internet. Before the internet it was harder for people to get information, but now we have access to almost any piece of information we need in seconds. The internet has made it easier for me and many other people in helping me with everyday tasks that would not be possible without the internet. The internet has helped Americans learn many things and makes it possible to spread important information fast to people all over the world.

In my opinion, the common smartphone is the most valuable and useful thing in the modern era. The first smartphone was released by IBM in 1994. This took the world by storm and may have not been very compact but it had many elements of the commonplace iPhone and android that we see every day. On January 9, 2007, though the iPhone came into the game. Apple released its first phone for $499. This iPhone sold over 270,000 units after the first two days of it being released which were record-breaking numbers. Now the iPhone has tied into my life for many years and is such a useful tool. Every single day I have used my phone for a smorgasbord of things. The smartphone has revolutionized the means of communication and many other things. So in my opinion, the smartphone is the most useful modern device of all.

I think the greatest invention of the Digital Revolution is the Smartphone. It was made in 1992 by Rob Stothard. The phone was called the Simon Personal Communicator. The term “Smartphone” was not used until 1995. About 15 years later the first Iphone was created by Apple which has gotten really popular over the past about the past 2 decades. It has given people the chance to explore more about technology. People can call or text their friends or watch things like YouTube or Netflix. Smartphones can also help you with your health. On most Iphones, there is a health app for you to track your health and things that you need to improve. Now of days people are always on there phones because of the great things it can do. Every year phones are getting better which has attracted more people to use it.

I believe that one of the most important inventions of the modern era is the internet. The internet is a place that gives anybody various amounts of information. It is one of the world's necessities. The internet is so accessible and so useful that it's no surprise. You can learn about anything, send mail with ease, play your favorite games, communicate with friends and family and do your work and school work. Many companies rely on technology alone to stay in business. Many of these are big like the companies that allow you to have internet to business that sell you the products to use the internet efficiently. This is the bread and butter of modern life. It was made in 1983 and changed the world forever. This has personally caged my life for the better. I can learn from the internet. Others can also higher their education with the internet. All and all, the internet is the new Holy Grail of today and will probably be so for a very long time.

The GPS project was launched in the United States in 1973 to overcome the limitations of previous navigation systems, integrating ideas from several predecessors, including classified engineering design studies from the 1960s. The U.S. Department of Defense developed the system, which originally used 24 satellites. The Department of Defense then followed through and launched its first Navigation System with Timing and Ranging (NAVSTAR) satellite in 1978. The 24 satellite system became fully operational in 1993.
Today, GPS is a multi-use, space-based radio navigation system owned by the US Government and operated by the United States Air Force to meet national defense, homeland security, civil, commercial, and scientific needs. GPS currently provides two levels of service: Standard Positioning Service (SPS) which uses the coarse acquisition and Precise Positioning Service (PPS). We as humans don't always know the way to a distant relatives house or a new location of our job so we use the Global Positioning System and we use this day after day. Millions of people use the GPS everyday all around the world. My family uses it on trips out of state or out of the country. The GPS was approved and we are now able to use a digital map without the hassle to break out a real one and look for your location. The GPS was first its own machine but is now included in every phone being IOS or Android. I don't know what cool inventions the GPS might inspire but I am ready to see what it is and how it will change society as we know it.

In my opinion, the smartphone is the greatest invention to modern society, because they help us with many tasks. The smartphone was invented in 1992 by IBM, however, people didn't actually start calling them smartphones until 1995. The first ever iPhone was made by Apple in 2007. After that, many more iPhones were being made. Now, we even have the iPhone 11 which was released September 20th of 2019. The iPhone has developed many new features like face id and fingerprint. The iPhone also has many apps that can help you on a daily basis like notes and reminders. You can also call, facetime, and text at anytime without wifi. That can help you with emergencies and it makes things much easier. Even though smartphones can cause stress and anxiety, all types of technology has its pros and cons. Overall, smartphones make life easier and more enjoyable.
